I'm trying to get licensure by credentials in Virginia and it is a little unclear to me after looking at their website. I didn't take the optional prosthodontic section of the WREB and I know its a requirement for licensure by examination, but if I have an active license in another state, is it still required? I found this online "For dental applicants who apply for licensure by credentials, the Board will accept a passing score of the Clinical Competency Exam required in the state in which the dentist was originally licensed." but its still unclear if that means I still have to take the prosth section. I'm a specialist and haven't done general dentistry in a long time, so I would like to avoid having to take it if I can. I messaged the board, but I'm having trouble hearing back from them.

You do not have to re-take the prosth section.

I applied for my Virginia license (by credentials) with the same concerns about 3 months ago. I'm also a specialist (OMS) and I also had not taken the prosthodontic section of the WREB. I didn't get any real answers when I emailed the board and they never answered the phone. I applied with fingers crossed and was granted a license last month. Another OMS I know here did the same thing last year and he had no problems getting his license.
