So nervous.. I applied to a couple of these and haven’t heard from them. I submitted the day prior but forgot to actually apply to programs until the night of apps becoming available.

I felt that, after seeing how virtual interviewing has gone in every other field (with everyone over-applying, the field heavily skewed toward the top 10% and programs thus ranking too few candidates), I had to overapply too. I wonder what the field looks like this year?

Not sure since I’m just an applicant, but I can imagine this field being more personable and focusing on personal statement and letters. Research probably for the top programs.

Anyone else have an interview invite that says they will be "group interview sessions"? I am trying to figure out if that literally means multiple applications interviewing at once. Never heard of anywhere doing that for palliative interviews, seems like a strange way to go for palliative.

From last year, my guess is this is less group interview with other applicants and more group interview with maximum number of staff getting Face time with you.

E.g. the social workers, chaplains and three pas/nps interview with you.

Around 30% of my interview times and at least 60-70% of my interview days included group interviews, usually the non-md/do interviews.

In my mind it’s a green flag they are warning you in advance

In some ways this can be stressful, but honestly I think a lot of people drawn to this field thrive with that size group (about the size of a family meeting). It also takes pressure off you to make small talk as more people help share the load of that.

Is it ok if I share some information with you about what you may be expected to wear? As a warning, I may be a little frank, and the answer is not clear-cut.

In all seriousness, expectations will vary by program.

I wouldn’t care if you wanted to interview in scrubs, which is probably what about 20-30% of your interviewers are going to be wearing (and certainly what I will be wearing).

My guess would be that majority of programs wouldn’t be thrown by business casual.

I wore a suit. Partially because I don’t have many reasons to wear a suit for the last few years, and I am incredibly vain/like to look nice, and partially because it was one less decision for me to make. I like to avoid decision fatigue, and the annoyance about wondering later if I had only worn a suit would things have gone better, etc

I haven’t posted because the ones I have are pretty much the same as the other Peds track people have. Still waiting to hear back from several programs. I’m guessing there’s another wave coming?
