no you have to CTE on amcas as wellDoes paying the deposit mean that you have CTE'd? Or do you have to do that on AMCAS?
June 24thdo you know the CTE deadline? I can't find that info anywhere
+1 it’s brutal out here lol 💀received financial aid offer 🙃
Hey, sorry for the delay. OSCE season 😅@AstroSidekick
If I may... was also curious your perspective on anything at PSU that might have been good to know as a new MS please--any either lesser known but helpful tips, or tricky/laggy/quirky things that maybe make navigating the system or courses a little harder? I'll also ask this of my house upperclassmen when I get there
Thank you for being such a great big bro/sister to us on here!
If it helps I withdrew my acceptance but was locked out of my fb so haven’t gotten a chance to leave 🤣I told myself I wouldn’t be neurotic but here I am checking the fb group numbers rise😅
LMAO thanks 😭If it helps I withdrew my acceptance but was locked out of my fb so haven’t gotten a chance to leave 🤣
CTE, my initial email, i have no idea when my FAFSA was processed but i submitted it around 3/15To those who have received their financial aid awards, was it through email or portal? Were you PTE or CTE at that time? Also, when was your FAFSA processed?

Wondering too. Would also like to know where their seat numbers are at…. Is movement slow or is reporting on SDN minimalAny recent acceptances?
Happy to know at least they’re moving lmao. But I also sense an A coming for you🙏🏼Currently on the WL, got a call from the admissions office to go over my application with the dean. Really not sure what to expect!
When did you get the call?Currently on the WL, got a call from the admissions office to go over my application with the dean. Really not sure what to expect!
Around 11 AM ESTWhen did you get the call?
Let us know how it goes! We’re all in this together at this point 😭Around 11 AM EST
Will definitely keep you guys updated!Let us know how it goes! We’re all in this together at this point 😭
Also waiting dying wondering 😂Anyone else hear anything? Adcom isn’t responding to my telepathic messages
I’ve seen the fb numbers creep up in the last week but only 2 people on sdn have reported receiving phone calls. With all of the people who declined their seat by 5/17 I expected more unless everyone who is getting in just happens to be off of sdnAnyone else hear anything? Adcom isn’t responding to my telepathic messages
In Spain without the SCrickets.
Thank you! I have a question. We have to pick a size for our white coats. Do you remember if they run big or small?Congratulations to those being pulled off the waitlist and good luck to those still on it (if you don’t have any acceptances, please submit you re-application ASAP!!). Also, large scholarships are being released so look out for those!!
I got a few questions about the typical week as an M1 and here is that all written out.
In a typical week (and every week is somehow atypical), this is what your schedule would look like as an M1.
Monday
Tuesday
- Small group PBL from 8am to 10am. REQ in person
- Large group lecture from 10am to 12pm. Optional in person. Zoom recorded. Sometimes, the lecture will be mandatory if they are doing critical thinking cases or are bringing in a patient to share their story with living with a particular condition
Wednesday
- Large group lecture from 8am to 10am. Same as lecture above.
- Small group humanities from 10am to 12pm. REQ in person.
Thursday
- Small group PBL from 8am to 10am. REQ in person
- Large group lecture from 10am to 12pm
Friday
- Large group lecture from 8am to 10am. Same as lecture above.
- Large/Small group health systems from 10am to 12pm. REQ in person.
Once you are an M2, everything just flip flops. So instead of PBL and then lecture on Monday, it’s lectures then PBL. We are the first class with PI quizzes but I’m assuming they will do it from 9am to 10am once our class fully transitions to M2.
- Small group PBL from 8am to 10am. REQ in person
- Large group optional lecture 10-11am
- Large group peer instruction quiz (basically a class wide group quiz) 11am to 12pm
Another key point I’ll highlight that there is something mandatory in person everyday for at least two hours (so please factor that in when you are choosing where to live). I wouldn’t recommend more than 20 mins one away in either direction.
We also have FPCC - which is our “doctoring class.” On average, we have it like 2x per month. Once you are sorted into your society, that will determine if your FPCC is in on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. The time is spent learning clinical skills, practicing on each other, and sometimes with a standardized patient. I really want to add that it’s on average 2x a month. There was like 6 week straight of FPCC in the Fall and then like a 3 month break in the spring as either the M1 or the M2 class will have FPCC that week (so when your class has FPCC, we don’t and vice versa).
As part of FPCC, you will be required to go to the wards with your professor four times where you do the entire history taking, part of the physical exam, then the oral report, and finally writing your note. Basically, it’s pretending like you are on your rotations. These are really fun and most people don’t complain about them (unless they were scheduled at an inconvenient time).
Lastly, we will rarely have an ultrasound session and a sim center day. Ultrasound is once a block (sometimes twice) and sim center is like twice a year (and everyone wishes it’s more because these are always a blast). They usually last an hour.
Lmk if you have more questions! I’m really looking forward to meeting a bunch of you on campus when the M2s get back from summer!!
This is personal opinion but I would recommend sizing up because it will shrink a tiny bit at the dry cleaners. Plus you always need wear business causal or a nice sweater underneath, so those can be bulky.Thank you! I have a question. We have to pick a size for our white coats. Do you remember if they run big or small?
At 145 now😭Pain seeing fb numbers rise 🥲
Not sure how much this helps, but that number may be inflated because I was just admitted off the waitlist today but am not yet in the facebook group. At 145 now😭
Congrats!! Did you also have to schedule a meeting with the dean like the others in this thread have? Not sure how much this helps, but that number may be inflated because I was just admitted off the waitlist today but am not yet in the facebook group.
Literally the Penn st waitlist process has been so enigmatic this year like I just want some proof of life from admissions or something lolCongrats!! Did you also have to schedule a meeting with the dean like the others in this thread have?
Thank you, and yes they called me the day before to schedule a meeting.Congrats!! Did you also have to schedule a meeting with the dean like the others in this thread have?
You and me both. I wish I know where I stood so I knew whether or not to keep hope.As someone who sent my LOI to Penn state, wondering if others on the WL are still hopeful or if it’s time to accept I will not be attending school here :/
Saw this :/ I mean that’s a basically a full class right? I know they say WL can go until first day of classes but I feel like movement must be coming to an end? I know their CTE deadline is late but will that make a huge difference151 members on FB
Is the group just for admitted students or ppl who are definitely attending?151 members on FB
