I have an interview at a research lab in a med school in New York for a 1-2 year research tech position next week that I'm hoping to get for my gap year. I'm getting interviewed by both a researcher and a physician/researcher. Should I a wear or a suit, or something less formal?

Thanks

In my lab business casual would be most appropriate. Something like dress khakis and a dress shirt but without a tie. More would be ok but I think a suit would be too much. This is just my lab however, others may be different.

Very business casual. I like the khaki idea with a button up and no tie (or the tie if it makes you feel better). Belt is a must.
