MD & DO Re-apply or Gap Year WAMC

I applied last cycle to 32 MD and 1 DO school and have one DO II that I am waiting to hear back from and no MD II. the main deficiencies in this application was my hours and writing and have worked to address them over the past year. Would my improved application be good enough to warrant a reapplication this coming cycle or should I take a gap year?

cGPA: 3.80

sGPA: 3.78

Clinical Hours:

hospital volunteer at cardiovascular center and trained volunteers: 75 hours

Hospital volunteer as wayfinder for patients: 70 hours

Hospice volunteer- 150 hours

Shadowing:

80 hours with primary Care physician

8 hours with pathologist

20 hours with gastroenterologist

Non-clinical volunteering:

150 at soup kitchen that serves local homeless population

25 at home for those with disabilities ( got cut short due to covid)

45 hours as a volunteer tutor for immigrant youth

Research:

600 hours in ecology lab (wrote manuscript for own data set and Analysis. Not published but will be used in a future paper)

200 hours in psychology research lab- running group sessions to gather data

Miscellaneous:

Wildlife Photography- (hobbyist and own use)

Health and Wellness chair of fraternity

MCAT tutor and mentor at university

WAMC for a re-app next cycle, or should I take a gap year and up my hours?

Your hours should be okay as they meet the minimum expected. Keep building in the activities you still find meaningful as you can.

If I was to take a gap year, I was planning on getting either scribe, emt, or cna cert over the summer and then working during the year.
