OSU-COM Discussion Thread 2010-2011

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received the long awaited phone call as well yesterday. Thanks to everyone for all the information posted on here and don't give up to everyone on the waitlist!

I know some people with 30 minute commutes, and one with 45. No one with an hour and a half.

It can be done but will be rough, between gas prices and classes starting between 8:00 and 9:00. Theres a lot of people that skip classes and only go sparsely because you can get a lot more done on your own time then by going to lecture, however some lecturers give bonus points and you obviously have to be there to attempt them.

well its a 45 minute drive from cushing to tulsa. 1.5 hours there and back.

Oh I see, it can be done, just be prepared for some exausting mornings.

I know one student who commutes around a hour, another who drove from stillwater the first semester every day not sure how long of drive that is but my guess is it's more than a hour. My understanding is it's hard, hate to break the bad news. Good news is it's possible so if someone else can do it then it can be done.

i was looking at the courses for the ms and it looks like some of the same ones in the do portion but the course numbers are different. does anyone know if they count towards the do degree or would i have to take biochemistry, pathology, gross anatomy etc twice?

Nope, they count. There are different course numbers for the Med school and grad school (ie 5000 level for grad, 8000 level for med) but they count the same regaurdless; what I don't know is if you have to have a certain grade for it to count on both or not.

Anyone first or second year students know what the hours for orientation are usually? I had planned on having an open house for my wedding the day before the white coat ceremony but they bumped up orientation a few days and now will be the same day as the open house. Any ideas Phlame?

Just wanted to tell everyone to enjoy the summer and see yall next year!

Has anyone done anything with loans yet? When I called the school they said to have the FAFSA done and wait for a letter from them, but this seems really late to me to be getting financial aid. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Fill out the FAFSA first. The school will send you a letter in the summer(July). Then you will receive your financial aid the week or so after school begins.

Hey, just letting you guys know that the waitlist cutoff emails went out today.

I withdrew my acceptance to OSU today. Good luck everyone and have a great first year!!!

just curious, did u make the cut?

I did but I'm pretty much 100% committed to OU at this point, mostly because of the Kaiser grant and because there just isn't much time to plan with OSU at this point.

Well I'll see you in the fall then

I'm an incoming MS-2 here, and I wish you all the best! Just relax over the summer

Hey guys, greetings from China (I'm on vacation!). If any of you are on the waitlist still, I'd -highly- recommend reapplying ASAP. It was great fun talking with you all this application cycle, and I start at OU in August so I won't be around (much) for the 2011-2012 cycle topic, but I might poke in from time to time.
