Gave up my interviews at Michigan and Marquette. I know it's a stressful process, but hang in there, comrades.

which schools are doing zoom interview ?

which schools are doing zoom interview ?
Not that many this year, UDM and OHSU (1st round) off the top of my head. Interviews are mostly done by the way. If you’re asking for next cycle, we won’t know but I suspect even fewer schools will do virtual.

Nyu and Usc was virtual too this year. Not sure what next year will look like.

Some programs (UCLA) ghost. Never heard from them again after my interview last year
Opposite end of the spectrum, I got a rejection email from Albert Einstein even though I was never invited to interview (I assume it went out to all 200+ applicants that they had). Funny how some program can manage to communicate with ALL their applicants and some ghost the few candidates that they do interview.

Again, may have been put on an alternate list ... but a phone call telling me I’m on an alternate list would have been nice

But isn't an alternate list means that they don't actually want this applicant? and most probably will not be aceepted?

It means you didnt make the cut but if someone drops , depending on where you are on the alternate list, then you will be bumped up (and possibly accepted)

Because there are so few spots , and sometimes people do drop, then usually there are alternates just in case.

Everyone who accepted a position should just drop and reapply next year- I hear it’s a lot easier the second time around 🙃

Definitely not easy lol..

I had 3 interviews, 4 years of military service(will be 5 by the time I separate), middle class rank. No acceptances... :(
second cycle(actually 3rd but 2020 i applied on the deadline so doesn't count?) second year of getting interview at UCLA. ghosted like last time. welp. NOT EASY.

I’m really sorry

This is my second time applying. I substantially tried to improve my application from last year.

No acceptances.

Sometimes it’s pretty random simply because there are so few spots. But here’s my advice: don’t give up. Keep trying. Keep applying. Persevere

The next few weeks will hurt. August in general is when things die down and the reality of waiting for a whole new cycle sets in. But use this experience to motivate you.

My two cents. Wishing you the best.

At least UCLA interviewed you again (though getting ghosted hurts a lot)

I would follow up with the PD to see how you can improve your application. Keep in touch with her. Clearly you’re competitive.

Good luck. Keep your head up

Have you contacted the PD after being ghosted?

Received an email from Columbia that my application has been selected and forwarded to the admissions committee for a final review?? Fingers crossed that it leads to an interview!

Congrats! and thanks for the positivity!

USC is still interviewing I think, I got a last minute invite for a virtual interview today (declined it).
Few days ago, they told me that: Dr. Roges is still reviewing applications as well as interviewing. If selected to interview, we will notify you by email. Things will wrap up some time this month.
