Mine was similar. Step 1 is just one part of the story!
I did better on step 2, gathered some great ECs, and have already completed enough interviews this season to have a >99% chance of matching.
As far as the caliber of programs, I've interviewed at the whole gamut. Per the "IM Residency Excel Sheet" from Reddit, I've interviewed at the very top, and a lot in the middle, and a few near the lower end. It is entirely possible to match cardiology, but it will be a big uphill battle! I'm assuming you're a third year, in which case you need to do great on rotations, have super letters, and target programs with cardiology fellowships!
