iBooks for med school?

I'm an incoming M1 and I currently have a macbook, an iPhone, and my school gives iPads to all students. With this in mind, it seems like it would be very convenient to purchase- whenever possible- any required textbooks through iBooks, or something similar, and have them on all of my devices (granted, this does seem to be more expensive..).

I'm sure others have done this before. Does anyone have insight into how it works out? Or does it become a hassle/ overly expensive/ etc.
