Medical How should I handle commit to enroll request 1 week after acceptance?

Hello,

So I just got accepted by my state school’s MD program. Beyond happy and grateful. But in the acceptance letter they state that I have to make my decision by next week. They also required me to mark “Commit to Enroll” on AMCAS. Wouldn’t that automatically withdrawal all my other school applications? I applied to 30 medical schools and haven’t heard back from most of them. I believe that I will hear back later on. Would love any advice and help that I can get.

My understanding is that it does.

I would assume that it does. That’s kinda unfortunate that they are playing like that as it puts you in a hard place. Congrats on the acceptance though. ANY medical school acceptance is exceptional!

If you applied Early Decision, I think it is required. (I could be wrong and you did not mention this.)

I didn’t applied early admission. I did regular decision. But I thought it’s so weird that they are requiring me to select commit to enroll so early in the application cycle.

I can’t even see the feature available on my AMCAS application. And when I looked on the Q&A section. They mention that the feature won’t be available till April 30th?

Well then you may be ok to wait...contact the school and ask.

Be familiar with the AMCAS acceptance protocols. They may not have changed their communications from the Choose Your Medical School time period.

Yeah this seems like an error and a communication that they didn’t fully proof. Contact the school.
