Clinical pharmacy I would argue is actually far more saturated than retail. How many applicants does each clinical pharmacist job posting get? 1000?

You're getting all sorts of applicants including new grads without residencies, new grads with residencies, those with years of clinical experience, and those just trying to escape retail.
we average around 100 or so, but then HR cuts applicants before we even make our final decision, a large percentage of the applicants are retail RPh's trying to get a job in hospital. So it is hard to tell which area is truly saturated.

There would be more retail Rphs applying for hospital jobs than hospital Rphs applying for retail jobs so hospital is definitely more saturated.

"I want to escape hospital and break into retail", said no pharmacist ever.
