Hey folks, wondering if anyone has any insight into the differences in pursuing palliative care as a family doc vs IM. I’m a Canadian medical student interested in pursuing palliative care as a career, but am a bit stuck on which path would be better.
I like how FM offers more flexibility in training and practice, but I am worried about how this will manifest in the job market in the future for full-time palliative/hospice medicine. Is there an anticipated skew in favour of physicians trained in IM (or other specialties with similar training length)? What are peoples thoughts on this? I’d be more interested in the Canadian side of things but would appreciate any input.
