Description: The Department of Pathology at SUNY Upstate Medical University offers a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine. This program includes didactic and practical training in advanced immunohematology, therapeutic and donor apheresis, extracorporeal photopheresis, blood donation, viral and bacterial testing, component processing and storage, coagulation, HLA, Patient Blood Management, and stem cell collection and processing. Graded assumption of responsibility for medical, administrative, and instructional activities by the fellow are integral to the training program. Research opportunities are provided commensurate with the fellow's interests and experience.

Requirements: Applicants should be Board-eligible or Board-certified in anatomic pathology or AP/CP, as well as having passed USMLE Step III or COMLEX III.
