Hey guys,
I am excited to be posting here. I have been looking around this forum since deciding that I wanted to become an OT junior year of college. I am applying next year (2019) to a masters in OT and I am just wondering what are some things you guys think I can improve on. I am so nervous and just afraid to not get in. My stats are below:

Northern Virginia Community College
Major: Associates of Social Science
Cumulative GPA: 3.85

George Mason University
Major: Psychology of Science with a concertation in Developmental Psychology
Cumulative GPA: 3.95 (so far)
Pre-req GPA: 4.0 (so far)
Last 60 Hours: 3.95
GRE: Still have not taken

Observational Hours: Probably over 3,000
- Hand Therapy: 1000+ ( I was working as a tech)
- School Setting: 30 Hours
-Acute care: 45 Hours
- Pediatric Setting: 300+
- Hospital Setting (Post- Trauma unit): 20 Hours
-Early Intervention: 40 Hours
- Hippotherapy: 20 Hours
I am thinking of also looking at home health or stroke or burn unit at a hospital for more settings.

Extra Curric:
-Rehabilitation Club
-First Generation Club
- Kinesiology Club
-Mariposa Mentoring
-The Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement
-Patriots for Health Assitance
- Hispanic Student Associates
-Research assistant for the developmental psychology lab at my school
-Received a scholarship from the Reston Scholarship Foundation
- Fluent Spanish speaker
- CRP/ BLS certified
-Qualified Mental Health Counselor certified
- RBT certified

Volunteer Hours: Over 5000
- Tutoring at-risk youth at Vecinos Unidos
- Teaching English classes to Adults for my church
- Teaching Bible class for kindergarten age children for my church
- Food drives at my church ( I would help fill out paperwork)
- Running a sensory program for adults with disabilities at SPARKS
- Running an arts and crafts program for a domestic abuse shelter called Artemis House
- Running an arts and crafts program for a homeless shelter called Embry Rucker Shelter
- The front desk at a homeless shelter called Embry Rucker Shelter
- Volunteering as an activity assistant at a home from elders with dementia called Insight Memory Home
- Volunteered front desk at a domestic abuse shelter called Artemis House
- Volunteered at an OT camp for kids
- Volunteered with Jill's House ( I helped the caregivers with the kids)
- Volunteered at my church assisting the children at my church with disabilities

Work Experience
- ABA therapist working home, center and school-based
- Nanny to a child with cerebral palsy
- Occupational Therapist Assistant for a Hand Therapy clinic
- Peer mentor to college students with disabilities
- Mental Health Counselor at a group home for adults with Schizophrenia disorders

LOR: 2 from OTs I shadowed, 1 from the supervisor of the special needs program at my church which I volunteered for over 3 years, 1 from my abnormal psychology professor.

Will Apply: Probably over 10+ schools, Im really nervous of not getting in. I live in VA, but more then likely apply to schools outside of VA.

If you guys can give me any feedback on what I could improve or increase my chances to get into an OT program I would highly appreciate it.

Your chances look pretty good in my opinion. Your work experience, observation hours, and extracurricular activities are impressive and definitely show you're a well-rounded candidate. Make sure you have an impressive personal statement, as well. Have people read it and give you feedback on that :)

Your stats/volunteerism look great! You will definitely get interviews. I would suggest doing mock interviews to better prepare yourself for in-person interviews. You look great on paper, now figure out how to sell yourself in your interviews! Definitely apply to as many schools as possible as well!! This field is way more competitive than I thought it would ever be!!
