I'm helping my PI write a large grant for an upcoming deadline, and they have brought up turning the information I've gathered into a review paper, where I would be potentially first, co-first, or second author. I'm super excited and will play a part in writing it anyways, but I was wondering what value or weight having a review paper held for mdphd admissions?

I would guess more value than nothing, but probably less value than a first-author research paper. I'd still say do it. If you're gonna have to do the work anyhow might as well get your name on some publication.

Its a great intro chapter on a thesis. Why write a chapter when you can write it AND publish it?
