The more I read/hear about lists of top programs, the more I believe each PD makes up the list by adding his/her own institution to the holy trinity of MGH (Partners in this case), Hopkins, and Penn or UCSF. After that it's kind of murky as to who is next best in what. Does anyone ever care about the US News & World Report subspecialty rankings? I think the US News ranking - reputational score somewhat reflects the PDs' biases, but it also gives RNs/bed and # of discharges which mean quite a bit for residency training. Any thoughts?
