The University of Kentucky Infectious Disease Fellowship program has an opening for the 2024-2025 academic year!
At the University of Kentucky, our mission is to train the next generation of infectious disease clinicians, clinician-educators, and clinician-scientists to provide excellence in research, education, and high-quality patient care.
Our two-year fellowship program offers robust clinical experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The unique population in and around Kentucky provides a depth and breadth of clinical diseases for our fellows to gain experience. Our fellows have opportunities to participate in direct care of a wide variety of infectious disease syndromes including complex bacterial, fungal and viral disease, cardiovascular infections (>200 infectious endocarditis/year, LVAD, implantable cardiac device infections), HIV, hepatitis B and C, sexually transmitted infections, travel medicine, transplant care, complex bone and joint infections, and more. Additionally, our trainees receive dedicated research time with the goal of completing and presenting scholarly projects.

Applicants should have completed an ACGME accredited internal medicine residency or equivalent by July 1 2024.

Two-three letters of recommendation
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) status report, if applicable
Documentation of completion of residency
We support J-1 visas. For international medical graduates, it is important to note that completing an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency training program and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) board-eligibility in internal medicine is required for ABIM board-eligibility and certification in infectious disease.
