Running Multiple Practices...and letting them run themselves. *HOW TO?*

I love talking business just as much as dentistry. With that being said and for those of you that operate multiple practices, what are your methods? My mentor runs two practices, is at one 2 days of the week and at the other 2 days as well. How do you do it differently?

And how does running 3 or more practices work? You hire associate Drs? Does anyone know doctors that let their associates run the entire clinical portion of the business, while the doctor that owns all of the practices simply manages the business and is not involved with the clinical aspect at all (I recognize that this would be in advanced stages of your career)? What did they do to get there?
