Just wondering how hard it was to get into specialty programs after graduating from Roseman dental school if anyone has any experience after graduating from this pricey school.
I’ve heard some random tidbits. One is regarding dentures and how the students don’t get to do their individual dentures, but instead have group dentures they do. Additionally I’ve heard that their patient pool is so low that the university is frantically opening satellite clinics in rural Wyoming so that the students can actually do dentistry. It was actually just yesterday when I was talking to a dentist who practiced in Utah, and her colleagues from Roseman were telling her things like this about the program.
When I interviewed at Roseman, the student interview consisted of them telling me they snowboard all the time. Not sure if any of them cared to specialize
To be honest, I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of students matching with specialty programs (including 4+-GPR, AEGD). I personally know of a few students in the D4 Class that matched with their #1 programs(2-Pedo, 1-Ortho (only 1 applied), 1-Perio (only 1 applied). There was also a student (graduated last year) that was accepted to OS this year.
To specialize, you need a DDS/DMD degree. To get one of those degrees, you need to graduate from an accredited dental school. In order to graduate from said dental school, you need to demonstrate competency in all things dental. A dentist from Roseman is as much a dentist as one from UoP or NYU or Howard.

I go to one of those two schools and am going into residency. We have plenty of people going into every specialty. You'll realize very quickly no matter which school you go to that no one cares where you go to dental school. It'll be a conversation starter "oh where do you go to dental school" and will be only a passing thought. What they care about is who you are, and how you work, externships, letters of rec and overall work ethic is. Choose your school based on cost and your own impressions.
