I was just wondering exactly how competitive it is to secure a good residency position in neuro. What kind of board scores, preclinical/clinical grades, etc. does a person need to get into a well regarded program. Also, what is the residency experience like (lots of call/hours/etc vs. more reasonable lifestyle) and which programs are most highly regarded? Finally, for those of you presently training in the field, how satisfied are you with your choice? Any replies would be highly appreciated.

Neurology is probably not one of the most competitive fields.

However even within neurology, the top 10-20 programs are very competitive to get into. I know of many people with good scores and grades who did not even get interviews at the top programs. Good clinical grades and research is always helpful.
