For residents applying to fellowships:

Many ppl mention research as the key to landing the right fellowship. BUT, When the heck do you have time to do research during internship and residency? How do you guys handle this? How important are board scores?
BTW I'm interested in allergy/immunology specifically. It would be esp helpful if someone applying/has applied would answer.
Thanks

many residencies have research months options as electives. if not, sometimes they allow away rotations that you can set up with 'big names' whose recommendation might help.

otherwise research is done at night, on weekends, during free times during the day. same as for many attendings.

good luck
