Hi,

I am M3 considering going into Rad Onc. What skills and abilities does it take to become a good Rad Onc? I was a chem major at undergrad and loved math and physics in college. I like to do things that make logical sense and where there is some reasoning involved.

I guess my question to the people out there is how does a rad onc go about figuring out the treatment planning. Besides looking at the anatomy and previous research studies, what things does a rad onc think of before providing radiation therapy. This is a very basic question and excuse my ignorance about the topic. what are the other things that I need to really consider before going into rad onc besides competitiveness, lifestyle, grades, board scores, cancer pt.

What is on the horizon for rad onc? How will technology shape the field of radiation therapy.

Are there any fellowships available in rad onc besides brachytherapy?

thanks
