Before clinicians can acquire initial certification in orthopaedic surgery, they have to go through a series of evaluations and board examinations. This process is designed to maintain the quality of healthcare delivery in the country. The oral orthopaedic surgery board examinations is the second of two (2) evaluations organized by the board. The certifying or oral exam focuses on case-based scenarios and tests critical thinking ability and other clinical skills. Orthopaedic surgery board reviews can be found on the web. Candidates are encouraged to take note of the following dates relevant to the next oral orthopaedic surgery board exams:

July 23-25, 2013 - Oral orthopaedic surgery board exam schedule
April 1, 2012 - Online application begins
October 31, 2012 - Last day for submission of payments and other requirements with no late fees involved
November 15, 2012 - Final deadline for payments and other requirements (includes late fee)
April 2013 - Scheduling permits, as well as admissions to the exam will be sent to candidates
August 2013 - Program directors to receive examination results
