has humanity degenerated. i dont understand this. i cant comprehend it. perhaps i am immature.
kimberli cox mentioons that these are the rules of polite society. i AM being polite when i pick up all the trash that other interviewees leave behind in the waiting room after they leave. i am not being polite when i write a "thank you letter" to some guy i have never spoken to.
image is the problem, if you ask me. looking good is number one. being good is irrelevant. let's play games and thank the PD and Chair by saying we are interested in ther "PET PROJECT"(to quote doc B), even when we are not.
i am going to walk to northeast philly and become a prostitute. it is the same thing.dozens and dozens of thank you notes. hilarious. i went into medicine because there is less bullsh*t politics than other places.
what happened to sincerity? if you REALLY are interested in a pet project, then i have no prob if applicant #345 sends a letter. but if not, dont. it's all a big joke.
as a culture, we shouldnt be giving in to the system, feigning personalities, acting artificial, reading books to better help us land spots. Substance, damnit. substance. no one cares about substance.
the entire interview process is a crock. it has always been a crock. slurpers love to slurp. asking questions we could read on the website, buying clothes that some idiot named"iserson" tells you is appropriate, jumping to the front of the crowd so that the PD gets a better look at their face.
f#ck it. the cool people i have met could care less about impressing anyone. the cool people i have met would rather be working and rounding on patients than playing the interview game. the cool people i have met know this is all a joke/waste of time.
"sincerity is not the goal."
Ha ha ha. I hope that's not your life philosophy, doctor.
love,
