There will be a PGY-2 level position available in the psychiatry residency at the University of Wisconsin in beautiful Madison, WI with a flexible start date in summer 2009.
Us: A friendly bunch in a very supportive and positive practice environment. The residency is academic and largely outpatient-based. Your PGY-2 year is a mix of outpatient clinics plus a paltry q8 overnight call. There is no overnight call in years 3 and 4. This is a flexible, friendly and family-positive program. Multiple fellowship opportunities and a vibrant group of colleagues who love psychiatry.
Madison: A fun, eclectic town with lots of things to do. A great place to raise a family or to ignore family-raising entirely and have a good time. Great restaurants, culture and two natural lakes flanking downtown. Consistently ranked one of the best places to live in the US by a whole lot of different magazines, newspapers, etc.
You: A current PGY-1 or PGY-2 psychiatry resident. Since our program is outpatient-based, you will need to have at least one year of a psychiatry residency already under your belt. PGY-1 residents will enter as PGY-2s, with nearly all inpatient psychiatry requirements already fulfilled. PGY-2 residents from other programs can enter at PGY-3 salary while completing the PGY-2 and 3 curricula, which are grossly similar to year 3 and 4 curricula at most programs.
