Hi fairly new practitioner. Do you need a dme license to dispense custom orthotics for patients that pay cash or for patients whose insurances don't cover dme? Thanks.
Not for orthotics.
You would need a DME license to dispense diabetic shoes and other DME products to Medicare patients, but you do not need it for private insurances, self pay or medicaids. Medicare does not cover orthotics, so you can do cash pay for those patients.
