The oral qualifying exam is set to hold at the Swissotel Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. The fee for the text is $1,650. In order to be board certified in ophthalmology you must pass both the written and oral ophthalmology board exams. The written qualifying exam in ophthalmology must be passed before continuing to the oral board exam. Important dates to note for the written qualifying exam are:

April 9, 2013 – Date of the next ophthalmology written qualifying exam.
March – August 1, 2012, and August 2 – October 1, 2012 (late) – Dates applications for the ophthalmology written qualifying exam will be accepted.
Late January 2013 – Date by which the scheduling information will be sent.
Late January 2013 - Date when scheduling for ophthalmology written qualifying ophthalmology board exam begins
