Hey guys,

Anyone ever see reference to the bromine with carbon tetrachloride decolorization test for double and triple bonds or the silver nitrate precipitation test for terminal triple bonds on any AAMC's? I had a question on it for Kaplan and never heard of it before. THanks.

Yeah, we did it in lab. Can't remember the specifics, but we had formed an alkene and tested for purity by the amount of bromine/carbon tetrachloride that could be added before the solution changed color.

As for the silver nitrate, I don't know...does it precipitate under mild acidic conditions?
