I am looking at OT schools in my home state of Virginia. Though VCU is my primary choice, I can't help but wonder what's up with Shenandoah University's MS in OT program. According to their website, the following is needed:

  1. Shenandoah University graduate application and $30 application fee.
  1. Writing sample covering the following sections:
  2. Show your understanding of occupational therapy
  • Explain why you want to be an occupational therapist.
  • Describe your personal characteristics and how that will make you an effective occupational therapist
  • Describe how your learning style will help you succeed in our hybid curriculum.
  • State one of your life goals and explain why the goal is important to you.
  1. Official GRE scores ( Quantitative section should be a minimum of 480)
  2. Two letters of recommendation
  3. Documentation of 24 hours of clinical observation under qualified occupational therapists in practice or evidence of being a COTA
  4. Official transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended or from which credit was received
There is absolutely NO mention of pre-req classes!

I just contacted the OT department and currently waiting for their reply. It sounds too good to be true....and even if it IS true, I question the quality of their OT program if they aren't even asking for pre-req classes.

Has anyone heard about SU's OT program? Any input about it?
