This is why I don't trust any student loan forgiveness or PAYE/IBR plan. With the amount of new debts accumulated by the government, what's stopping them from enacting new laws to save money and end these programs. What happens if you do IBR for 20 years and then Congress decide to not forgive the remainder of your loans?

If you have an agreement/contract, it will get grandfathered in.
I made a thread on this last week and that was mentioned. It would only prohibit new borrowers from entering. I'm no attorney, but my understanding is they can't take the option away from you if it was part of your original loan agreement.
