IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR A 1 - 2 YEAR NEUROCRITICAL CARE FELLOWSHIP AT THE KECK SCHOOL OF MEDICINE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (USC) TO START JULY 1, 2022
The 1-2 year program will use two participating sites: Keck Medical Center and LAC+USC Medical Center. The first year is split between the Neurocritical Care Unit (NCC) unit at Keck Medical Center (6 months) and six months doing other critical care rotations. The second year is evenly divided between Keck Medical Center (16-bed) and LAC+USC Medical Center (20-bed) . At Keck Medical Center, a majority of the cases are vascular, but also include status epilepticus, neuromuscular emergencies, and encephalidities. At LAC+USC, the service is mostly traumatic brain injury and vascular cases, while status epilepticus and neuromuscular emergencies make up the rest of the service.
The program accomplishes subspecialty training by rotating through multiple ICU settings: neurocritical care, medical intensive care, trauma, Keck night float, and surgical critical care units. The neurocritical care rotations enable the fellow to evaluate and treat neuro emergencies and understand the variety of complications that arise in patients with brain injury. The trauma ICU provides critical care management skills in poly trauma, shock states, and resuscitation. The medical ICU provides basic critical care management skills including sepsis, ARDS, acute kidney injury, and basic airway and ventilator management. Keck night float pushes the fellow’s capabilities and thought process to care for a variety of patients from many ICUs. The anesthesia month provides basic intubation skills and sedation management.

REQUIREMENTS/ DETAILS:
-Must be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology, Child Neurology, Emergency medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, or Neurology (2-year fellowship)
- Must have completed a fellowship in Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine Critical Care, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Surgical Critical Care Residency or (1-year fellowship)

- Completed / matriculated in Neurological Surgery Residency
-Eligible for an unrestricted California Medical License
