A thread with your own name in the title that has lasted for more than a couple days. I could never get away with that. Impressive. Keep me posted on what you think of Greely!

colorado is mountain, iowa is standard. 1 hour difference.

Although I hate to admit it, I am impressed that a completely random thread in an unrelated forum has gone 2 pages. Are we really hurting that bad for topics? It sure beats some of the threads in allo though. Those can get pretty random. Dont forget to report supersam.

I had journals to read last night so I could not post as often :(

Greeley is great! The attendings really want you to learn and they are totally cool people the residents included. this might be nuber 1 for me over PSL (st. luke's) but we'll see.

I suggest if you find time and need some good mexican food go to Santiago's. They have the hottest green chile anywhere. My wife and I are trying to remember if there is one in Greeley but I know there is one in Ft. Lupton which is right down I-25 at Frederick exit and head down Highway 52. You won't miss it. If you don't want to take I 25 take Highway 85 straight to Ft. Lupton.

Krab, how long you in Colo.? Til it snows 3 feet or so this winter? Or you just externing there for a bit? How's cost of living?

I am just externing. I was at PSL now greeley. I go to Jacksonville Shands hospital sept 1st.

cost of living is less than NYC but isn't everywhere less? most things are moderately priced. rent and housing is fairly cheap depends where you want to live though city or country? tax is 6ish%.

For how long, 30 days? Do they help with housing while you're there or is it your responsibility? That's a ton of travel money though isn't it, traveling to all parts of the country?

Apparently, you've never been to New Mexico

Krabmas, say hello to my boyz in Jacksonville.

it depends on the program some have housing some do not and some for a small fee or large fee.

and yes it is lots of money but do you hear MD students complaining about the money for their education? it is all part of medical training so I do it.

They pretty much only take scholl students.

they used to be obligated to take scholl students since scholl helped set up the program. but this year they took one frome scholl and one from cali.

There is a DMU student there as well (3rd year I think). Also starting with the class of 2008 DMU now has a core set up at Northern Colorado so I wouldn't surprised if you start seeing a lot more Iowa alums at the program.

I hope so. Last year 8 when there and not a single one was even ranked! The DMU student there scrambled for the spot.

I just found out today that the decided to add the Core rotation at Greeley North Colorado for DMU students but only for one student per 4 months.

Iknow but do you think it is worth it if they don't consider us? Ihope that trend won't continue

Is Dr. Hatch there much?

Maybe SCACFAS should bring him in as a distinguished lecturer and show him how great DMU is. What do you think Feelgood? We have a month open for it, he can come in and do a lunch and learn.

The one thing we DMUers need to realize is that when you look at that list of attending for this program about every single one graduated from Scholl and you know that they are going to look there first. But, hopefully with them allowing us to have a core there maybe the tides are changing and they are more open to taking students from other schools.

By the way Krab did you see on the the new CASPR Directory the Madison VA says it's clerkships are open to all students but New York students? What's up with that did someone make a bad impression or what?

I've heard that before and I still do not know why... someone should find out for me... didn't you say you were going there and would find out?

About Dr. Hatch for Psionic blast - yes you work in his office pretty often and do surgeries with him. he is really cool and a great teacher.

they are definitely open to other students besides scholl's. didn't you read my post that they USED TO be obligated to take scholl students?

I know you said used to, but I am wondering when this change was taking place. That residency is actually one one my top picks for residencies to see. I just don't want to get my hopes to high if they weren't really going to except DMU's students. I am really glad you like it. Dan robison is coming down here in ~ two weeks to talk to us about the residency. It will be, I believe the second time they've come here. How many miles are you putting on your car? Thanks.
