Does anybody have any input regarding the job prospects for radiation oncology in the future. Does the 1996 ASTRO report (link) still hold? Is there an oversupply? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That study was actually flawed. It is now universally recognized that there is/ and there are not enough radiation oncologist coming out of training. Therefore, for example, job market in both academia and private practice is incredibly good for the graduates this year and for at least the next 3 years.

people graduating now from residency are gettin offers for 200-300 k starting.

the acgme actually have been cutting spots over the past 10 years, and are just beginning to expand residency programs.
