I know someone who goes to a top 25 undergrad school on the east coast. He had a rough time to start college but has improved greatly. He has a 2.7 GPA (o chem, chem, bio, math), 3.0 GPA overall, and 3.4 major GPA in chemical engineering. His second semester of junior year he got a 3.83. By the end of college, if he keeps this up, he will have 3.3 overall GPA, 3.7 major GPA, and 3.0 science GPA.
On diagnostic tests he scores 30+ on the MCAT. He has 3 years of scientific research (including summers), a little community service, medical work overseas, and is Hispanic. Does this person have a chance at admission to medical school? If not, what could he do to improve his chances? Post-bac? Go for a Masters? Thanks for the help!
