Hey, took the DAT today and didn’t do as well as I wanted to. Now that I have everything done and completed, i would like to know what you guys think of me having a chance at admission this cycle.

I am a Biochemistry major my GPA is on the low side with a 3.29 and the sGPA is even lower at 3.07 :(
I was hoping to offset my low GPA with a high DAT but I kinda fell short there as well.
Bio 18
GC 18
OC 23
RC 21
QR 18
PAT 17 :(
TS 19
AA 20

My EC are great! Have over 200hrs at multiple dental offices and specialists. Oragnized a dental hygiene day for the kids at my temple. Threw a local fundraiser for oral cancer in my neightboorhood. 4 year member of the Dental Society club, and Vice President of Finance Club. Have a ton of volunteer hrs! Strong LOR from Chemistry, Biochemisrty, and Calculus professors.

I applied to 15 schools all on the East Coast and am a NY resident. What do you guys think?

I think you have a chance, apply broadly to many schools! Also, whenever you get interviews, do very well in them and you should have a chance! Also, what were your practice test scores on bootcamp to get that score? I am hoping for that score however my practice tests have been ranging from a 17-19. With an occasional 16 in bio (havent went through all the material for this yet though).

I think you have a shot!! I have very similar stats and have received an interview already. I applied to 14 schools.

To which schools did you apply and where did you receive an interview?

Hey, I only had a month to study so I mainly did DAT Destroyer and 4 BootCamp tests for each science section. For bio section I got 17/17/18/20, for Gen Chem 18/17/18/19 and for Organic Chem 20/22/20/19. Not to scare you or anything but my Bio and Gen Chem section was much harder than BC for some reason, I guess it comes down to the luck of the draw. Organic Chem was spot on in terms of similarity. I didn't really practice much PAT cause I never had the time to and my score obviously reflects that. I wasn't worried too much about reading, it was mostly simple questions which I answered by the mapping method. For the QR section I didn't do any BootCamp tests, again no time, so mainly did Math Destroyer tests 1-5, which were way harder than the actual DAT, but gave me a good understanding, but unfortunately I ran out of time for the QR and had to guess on 5 questions, time is you biggest enemy for the QR. Sorry if this doesn't help much, I only had a month to prepare and couldn't study as much as I wanted to. But thank for the reply, I hope i can at least get some interviews!

Yeah, I'm scoring about a 17-19 on most sections however, a occasional 16 on bio so I'm going to work on that. And I have about 10 days so hoping I can do well in that amount of time. Thank you!

Also remember that the SDN is not the whole of the application pool. There are probably many who are applying with lower stats. I do believe schools look at the full application and not just GPA and DAT.

People dont post 16-18AA breakdowns so thats why you dont see them here on SDN but people definitely score like that and then have to study for retakes. 20AA is totally doable. Study hard and best of luck!
