Hey everyone,

Asking this for a friend looking to join the military with her MPH. She received her MPH at a foreign institution (In Ireland) thats not accredited by a US public health accrediting board and was told by a recruiter that the military may not recognize her Masters degree. I wanted to know if anyone else had any experience with this or knew anyone with experience with this. Is this typical? In the Military's eyes, does she essentially not have a Master's degree?

Thanks for any input!

For Army - Assuming Medical Service Corps
AR135-101
1-11 Professional requirements for appointment
d. Medical Service Corps.

(m) Health care administration— Must have at least a master’s degree in a specifically related field. TSG will determine the acceptability of the degree in the major field of study based on background, education, and experience of the applicant.

(o) All other MSC specialties— Must have a baccalaureate degree in an appropriate field acceptable to TSG.

All other AMEDD Corps specifically state the accreditation criteria like ACGME or US accredited school.

Edit: AR135-101 is for Reserve Commissioned Officers but likely references the regulation for RA Officers if different.
