Fellowship Match Day (12-5) Question

So do we find out if we matched via email a few days before "match day" like with residency? Like do we find out that we at least matched even though we don't know where until 12-5?

for fellowship, match day and scramble are the same day...if you get an email that says you didn't match, then you have access to the unfilled list and you start calling, faxing, emailing, etc...

Does anyone know if programs find out beforehand whether they are unfilled? Or is it all on the same time for both applicants and programs?
