The Rose F. Kennedy Fellowship in Special Care Dentistry is a one-year fellowship concentrating on treating people of all ages with developmental disabilities, often on the severe end of the spectrum using a variety of behavior management techniques including IV sedation. The training is designed to provide an intensive clinical year in the management of medically complex and behaviorally difficult dental patients. The clinic provides services for infants, children, adolescents, and adults with problems that include physical, developmental, language, and learning disabilities. The clinical curriculum includes a comprehensive approach to those problem areas, which require advanced and sophisticated treatment modes.

Residents from 4 pediatric, 1 GPR, and 1 dental anesthesia residency programs from the Bronx rotate through the RFK clinic to obtain experience in treating people with special needs. There is a small didactic and research component as well. We are part of Montefiore Medical Center, a teaching institution in the Bronx, NY.

If this training is something you are interested in, please send an email to [email protected] to request a packet that contains additional information and how to apply. The application cycle is still open for the 2022 academic year.
