As an HPSP student, am I allowed to claim education credits on my tax returns? Or am I not qualified to do that since the mil pays the tuition for me? Thanks.

You can't claim anything they pay for. Really the only thing I claim is like the tax portion of my kits since I do have to pay for that and it's a part of the required supplies by the school. Also a couple of the fees that the HPSP won't cover like SGA dues and maybe the gym facility fee? I can't remember exactly but anything you personally pay for that is required by the school and the military won't pay for you can claim. It's part of the lifetime learning credit but it will only reduce your tax by 20% of whatever you claim. So usually just $100 back or so, but still helps.
