dental licensing in California

Hi,
I have a specific question about dental licensing in california. What types of people are allowed to have a license? I know that if someone was convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor then applying for a medical license would be tough....?? Does this work the same way for someone who wants to apply for a dental license to practice in california?
