Hi everyone, I just wanted to get my stats and EC's out there and see what people think could improve my application and if where I'm applying to is reasonable.
Major: Chemistry (Pre-dental)
cGPA: 3.73
sGPA: 3.62
BCP GPA: 3.83

DAT: 21AA/22TS/25PAT (nothing below 19)

EC's:
Won two Regional awards from the American Chemical Society. (Northeast Ohio region)
I am a co-intramural director at my school.
Student senate member.
Peer tutor in chemistry and bio
I have 100 shadowing hours
I have 50 volunteering hours (Non-dental related)
I played D-2 Baseball for two years before I was injured
Part of Pre-Professional club at my school
In the summers I work full time hours at the state highway garage (nothing special just keeping busy during the summer :p)

I am an Ohio resident*
The schools I'm interested in are:
1) Ohio State (Top Choice)
2) LECOM
3) Kentucky
4) Case Western
5) Western University
6) Pitt
Any others I should add?
and Thanks for any feedback on how to improve my application or schools to add!

Why LECOM?

Why LECOM?
I think I would like the PBL style learning and its relatively cheap for OOS applicants. Plus I think I would have a really good shot of getting in there with my stats? Is there a reason I shouldn't be looking at them? And thank you for the reply :)

I think you have a great shot. I have similar stats to you and I got in at multiple schools including OSU. I would add Marquette and Temple to your list due to their proximity, relative affordability, great clinical programs, and high % of OOS matriculants.

Based on what others have said on this forum and my own experience, LECOM will only consider you if they believe that their school is one of your top choices, either due to proximity or stats that are in line with their average. I applied there with the rational that it was one of my “safety” schools but I was entirely ignored. So I would definitely pass on LECOM if I was applying again.

Good Luck!

you could keep LECOM if you really want, i dropped them the second time i applied considering LECOM mainly produces GPs and i want to specialize. i would add some schools from this list but otherwise you should be fine. only other things id say are you could use a little more shadowing and volunteering

Awesome to hear! and thank you for the advice. I'll have to look into Temple and Marquette they sound right up my ally though. Another big reason I guess I'm interested in LECOM is that they have visited and spoke at my school twice now. I'll have to see how I'm feeling when sending out my app on whether to drop them or not.

I'm leaning toward GP, but thank you for the heads up about that I was unaware of their tendency of producing GP's. (Is that because they are a pass/fail system you think?) And thank you for the link definitely going to look into some of the OOS friendly schools! my goal is to apply to 7-9 schools I think.

i would say it's because PBL prepares one to become a GP not a specialist (UConn is also PBL but you spend the first 18 months bascially in med school with UConn Med). 7-9 should be good, 10 is average. i know people who applied to 6 and i know someone who applied to 19 so its all personal preference and how much money you have to spend. good luck though, if you have any questions feel free to pm me

Okay thank you for the feedback! If I run in to any question I'll be sure to hit you up. Thank you :)

Increase dental related volunteering for Kentucky. At least 150 hours. I had a 4.0 22AA and roughly similar ECs and didn’t get an interview OOS because I only had 50 dental related volunteering despite having several hundred non dental related.
