School 1: BU
* IS
Pros:
  • Close to home
  • brand new facility
  • Loved meeting students
  • In house specialities
  • Apex program
Cons:
  • Expensive tuition
  • Not much time off
  • I heard they cut bottom 5-10% ( not sure if this is true)
School 2: Rutgers
*OOS
Pros:
  • In state after first year (would be 90k less total than bu)
  • Strong clinical program
  • Good class size
  • In house specialities
Cons:
  • Newark can be dangerous
  • Farther from home
School 3: Indiana
Pros:
  • Good externship programs
  • Ability to start assisting D1 year
  • Exams are by class and not grouped together
Cons:
  • Can’t receive instate
  • Haven’t seen the school in person, only virtually
  • Not super familiar with city, but I wouldn’t be opposed!
Summary: I would love to have the ability to specialize if I would like to, so have that possibly at my school would be favored. I also applied to the HPSP scholarship so tuition may not be a deciding factor for me ( I don’t hear back til February). I heard back from BU first so already placed my deposit there. Any advice or more info about each program would be greatly appreciated :)

cheaper

No guarantee about the HPSP. But if you’re seriously considering it, I would put deposits down for the schools you’d want to go to and if you get the scholarship then go to the more expensive school, and if not, go to the cheaper one.

Rutgers was a good time. University neighborhood is already getting pretty gentrified - it’s not dangerous. I spent several nights riding my drunk ass on a bike through sketchy parts of Newark and nothing ever happened to me.
