Hi,
A research paper I read has given the Mean Age(± SD) for Males and Females respectively in the study.
I wanted to combine both the normal distributions into one value that would reflect a combined Mean(± SD) for the whole study population.

Is this possible ?

I believe you're referring to a pooled mean, the formula for which can be found in any intro stats textbook.

Summary statistics (mean, SD, etc.) and distributions are two very different things; we are talking about the former.
