Hey guys. I'm doing an away rotation in Phoenix at St. Joseph's hospital in about a month. Any suggestions on where in the city I should look? I've never been to Phoenix (east coast girl here). Is it feasible to live somewhere close enough that I would not need a car?

Thanks!

I'm from Phx and currently go to U of A in Tucson. We have a Phx campus for 3rd and 4th years who choose to go up to Phx for their clinical rotations (many rotate at St. Joe's). Half my class is up there, and I'm sure there are students who can sublet. Try contacting the U of A Phx campus: http://www.medicine.arizona.edu/campuses/phoenix.cfm

There's also a housing website: http://www.medicine.arizona.edu/students/phx/resources.cfm

Phx is huge and REALLY hot this time of year, and it's best to get around in a car (with AC of course). But I'm sure you can find places that are in walkable distance to the hospital. Good luck.

Definitely contact the Student Affairs office in Phoenix. I'm a student at the U of A campus in Tucson, and I know that they provide housing help for students rotating in Tucson. They may have a similar list for people rotating in Phoenix. As for not needing a car, I can't help you there because I'm not from Phoenix. However, the heat will still be pretty intense even in a month, so you probably don't want to walk too far, or at least be close to public transportation so you don't have to be out in the heat. Good luck!
