Hello helper,
I had my interest in medical school for long time. My paretn had
discourage me of thinking about it just because i am a girl (old
asian fashion). However, i am a junior with 1 and 1/2 year to go
for the b.s. degree in medical technology. I know this is a long
shot to medical school but i like to become a physician so muc
that i have to give it a try. No one think that i can do this, so
this is my own personal goal.
But:
My obstable: my grade for the first 2 yrs are not "
impressive"(3.0)but if i finish my major in medical technology
then my gpa will be 3.5.
My future planning: go to work after receiving my b.s. while
taking some more advance science class to improve my science GPA.
My question to you is that do you honestly think that i can have
some chance in the competition for medical school? and do you
think there is still room for me to make improvement to give
them(medical school) good impression of my self??
P.S I also have work experience as a certified pharmacy
technician. Furthermore, i go to school and work at the same time
which was the problem for my low GPA.
And do you think if i don't talke a full time(12-14 credit) load,
my transcript will look bad in anyway because i want to make sure
i am holding As in fewer course in hand instead of load of Bs and
Cs? I appologize for having so many questions since i know that
you have so little time for them. So just take your time to
answer them.
thank you very much.... you will help me alot with your sincere
answers.

Connie:
Thanks for your posting. It sounds like you've been thinking
about things for a while, and that is good. You aren't out of the
running yet, but it does sound like you really need to finish
strong. With your GPA, you do need to do fairly well on your MCAT
(preferably 30 but at least 26-27) and good letters of
recommendation.
I recommend not working. Debt stinks but it is hard to make the
grade when working too much.

Good luck!
