This Harvard physician solely blames doctors for these surprise medical bills. Of course these bills are absurd and need to be addressed but to paint it as though doctors are deceiving patients and/or are too lazy to negotiate is extremely irresponsible of him. This is why the public is against physicians, we have no one fighting for us to tell the public the reality behind the scenes.
The reality is that insurance companies (billion dollar companies by the way) do NOT waste time negotiating with doctors on reimbursements, it’s a “take it or leave it” type of deal and often extremely under-priced as insurance companies want to maximize their profits. It’s extremely irresponsible of this Harvard physician to pin this multifaceted issue solely on physicians.
