Okay guys, I have a question on a question in one of the NBME Self-Assessments. So the CBC Showed a Thrombocytopenia, a low Hematocrit and Hemoglobin Concentration, and a Leukocyte count of 32,000/mm3, with 42% blast on PBS.
Its stating that this patient has pancytopenia, but his Leucocyte count is elevated, and if removing the Blast, gives a Leukocyte count of 13,400 /mm3, which is elevated. So if the Leukocyte count is elevated why is it classified as Pancytopenia?
Anyone able to help me out?
