Can someone with a better understanding of PRR please explain how secondary assists on surgical procedures help our MAV numbers (if they do at all?) and to what extent, if any, second assist can help my PRR numbers?

That is ultimately up to the chief of surgery/podiatry where you apply... and how much the facility cares (or doesn't).

I would log all you can. It won't hurt you in any way.

Out in practice, you will basically have 3 types of facilities:
  • doesn't care much, will hardly look at logs or what board cert/qual (just wants ca$e$/surgeons)
  • takes an appropriate look at logs, calls your residency, wants to see scope course or TAR course or RRA qual etc for those privileges, wants ABFAS within reasonable timeframe (the way it should be)
  • ridiculously picky ABFAS or not, heavily scrutinizes logs or wants proctoring (usually places with politics gummed up by pods/orthos looking to limit competition)
